Following the DEC Drawing Dance performance at All Saints Headington, we are now turning our attention to our forthcoming performances of Luminous Shadows at the Old Fire Station on Thursday 23rd May.  Thanks to Ana Barbour we were lucky to have a recent rehearsal in the OFS black box studio theatre where we will be performing, a great opportunity to experiment with projection and lighting.  Very exciting to be able to show this work in a theatre setting, where the projections can be truly vibrant.  Oxford dancer and video maker Naomi Morris took some stunning photographs, here are a couple to whet your appetite…

Conscious that most of the news on this blog of late has been about classes, and little about creative work, which has nevertheless been going on in the background.  So it is with pleasure that I announce a forthcoming event; DEC Project Oxford in informal concert with the delightful AMV, Oxford’s premier inauthentic early music group, on Saturday 4th May at All Saints Church in Headington.  A chance to see a taster of the mysterious interaction between dancers, musicians and visual artists with live projection of drawing in the moment that we have been exploring and developing since 2010.  Organised by the indefatigable Jean Wykes this concert is part of the opening festivities of Headington and Marston Artweeks, part of this year’s Oxfordshire Artweeks festival.  You can find out all about it here on Oxford Dance Writers:

If you cannot make this event, DEC will be performing later this month on Thursday 23rd May at the Old Fire Station – more information to be posted shortly…  You can also see video of our work in a previous performance at the Pegasus Theatre here.
