10.30am-12.30pm Intermediate-Advanced Ballet with Susie Crow
Susie‘s dance and teaching practice draws on early training in Oxford with RAD examiners Beryl Jackson and June Christian, with Julia Farron and Eileen Ward at the Royal Ballet Senior School, and with distinguished resident and guest teachers during her time with Royal and Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet. Now an independent choreographer, teacher and dance artist, she continues to attend classes with Roger Tully, lectures and mentors teachers for ISTD and is currently undertaking research for a PhD at Roehampton University looking at the ballet class. Her classes prioritise clarification of technical understanding and artistic intention but also co-ordination, musicality and enjoyment of dancing. The classes will include a chance to explore an excerpt of classic repertoire.
1.30-3.30pm Open Contemporary dance with Lizie Giraudeau
Lizie Giraudeau studied at The Place and later danced with LCDT, Siobhan Davies, in the West End, in opera, film and for television. Lizie has given dance/movement related classes/ workshops throughout the UK, New Zealand and France. She has choreographed for opera, theatre companies, schools and community groups and still enjoys performing should the occasion arise.
Lizie’s class provides an opportunity to work on simple release based technique, improvisation (including contact) and to simply enjoy moving. “These contemporary classes are open to both those with limited dance skills and to those with more technical experience. Appropriate to all who are keen to appreciate and enliven their physicality, we will use simple technique and physical exploration to enjoy moving and communicating. A balance of improvised and structured work…. We will begin by tuning in to our physical state and by gently bringing warmth, energy and openness to the body. Moving on we’ll explore pathways through flowing structured phrases and playful, imaginative improvisation, individually, in pairs and as a group.” email@example.com
